After graduating first in her class at the Art Academy of Michigan, Susan Hall worked for Walt Disney as an artist and freelancer for eight years before moving to the Bay Area. There she worked as an interior designer, illustrator, instructor, muralist and portrait artist. She and her husband also restored a hundred-year-old house and operated it as a bed & breakfast for 20 years. Now she is an award-winning painter, working both in her studio and plein air. The 9"x12" oil above, entitled Blazing Beauty, is one of several of her paintings chosen for display last year at the Edward Hopper House Art Center in Nyack, New York. hall fisticuff-6-x-8 At left is a 6"x8" plein air oil entitled Fisticuff. Her subjects are as wide ranging as her interests — still life, portraiture, figurative and plein air landscapes. She won First Prize last year at the Carmel River Fest & Feast and at the Mendocino Open Paint Out. Her Blog includes color studies and photos of her portable covered palette.
