Judy Howells is an established, professional plein air painter in California. Plein air studies are the basis for her larger studio works. She paints on the west coast (above, Lifeguard Station, Will Rogers Beach, 6″x8″), the east coast, where she used to live, and in New Mexico. Here she is at an event on Martha’s Vineyard in 2014:

“The creative process and the making of images have always been part of my life, both as an artist and formerly as an art educator. Fundamental to my painting is a search for beauty which I find in direct observation”
