Black Hills Plein Air Event

Carl was invited to judge the 5th Annual Black Hills Plein Air Paint Out in Hill City, SD, September 22-24, with more than twenty artists participating. What a fun group, and such a beautiful place!

It turned into a real vacation which included the Needles Highway, Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial (which includes an immense museum of art and artifacts).

Afterwards, we visited with artist and teacher Joan Swim and her friends in Valentine, NE (see photo below).

And since Carhenge was on the way home, of course we stopped to see it as well.
