Michael L Coleman

Carl enjoyed stopping by Arizona artist Michael L Coleman's beautiful studio during his recent visit to the Sedona Plein Air Festival. Michael uses our Cartón Board for plein air sketches, but the two paintings shown here are large studio pieces. Alcove, shown above, is three feet by four feet, and Yampa River - Autumn, shown below, is four by six feet. Michael's keen perception developed while growing up in Yellowstone Park where his father was a ranger. Now, in addition to painting the spectacular landscape around Sedona, Michael he has traveled throughout much of North America and extensively in Europe. "Art has the ability to take people beyond everyday living, to think about something outside themselves or deep within themselves - to connect with a sense of mystery and beauty."
